View (from property/room) in Hotel Holt - The Art Hotel
The junior suite was quite spacious for our family of 3 adults, with one of us using the sofa bed in the living room. The main bathroom was by the entrance. The second bathroom, attached to the bedroom, was convenient even though it only had a bathtub with no shower curtain, and no sink or toilet. Beds were comfortable. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. The suite and all the public areas in the hotel were clean and tidy, although some of the furniture looked a bit tired. The general decor of the hotel was old-fashioned charm. Complimentary tea, coffee, water and cookies were provided in the lobby at all times. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I emailed them prior to my visit with some questions, and they promptly replied. We arrived Reykjavik early morning from Canada on a red-eye flight. The hotel was sold out the night before, so early check in wasn't an option. We were able to use the restroom in the bar/lounge area to refresh ourselves. The staff stored our luggage for us while we started exploring Reykjavik. The hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, just 5 minutes' walk to Rainbow Street and the shopping area. We left our windows open at night and there wasn't any issue with street noises. Free on-site private parking is available which is a bonus, and one of the reasons why I booked this hotel. The breakfast buffet, at 19 Euro per person, was reasonably priced and offered a nice selection of hot and cold items. I won't mind staying here again in my future visits.

As a solo traveller, I loved that the hotel was so close to downtown reykjavik and the BSI bus station for tours. The staff were so lovely and welcoming, even when I was stuck for something to do due to my tour being cancelled, they offered friendly advice. They really made me stay special! The hotel is so relaxed and I love the old art gallery feel. The solo rooms are great for solo travellers with a huge balcony at the top where you can actually meet other travellers too! Great view as well. The bathroom comes with soaps, shampoo and conditioner so no need to worry about that. Its only a 5 min walk to the centre, i pretty much walked most places as its an ideal location. I'd happily recommend this hotel to my friends! A fabulous stay!!

Nicole

Really liked this hotel as it had such a good vibe, with friendly staff, and some lovely areas for sitting close to the reception area. Our hotel room was comfortable too. It was located within easy walking distance (about 10 minutes) from the main bus terminal (BSI) where you catch the airport bus, and about the same distance from City Hall bus stop where a lot of tours leave from. This was handy because tourist buses are not allowed to pick you up from hotels in many areas close to the city centre. Breakfast was good with hot and cold options. Great number of English-speaking TV channels than some other hotels we've stayed at too.

Location was easy 10-minute walk from BSI bus terminal (we took Flybus from airport). And great for getting to Hallgrimskirkja or the concert hall/harbor area. BSI is also departure point for many bus tours. Lots of restaurants and shops just a couple of blocks away but hotel is on a quiet street. Room was comfy and warm (#315). Wifi worked in the room. Breakfast was included and complete (warm and cold foods plus some Icelandic specific items). We would stay at Hotel Holt again.

Serena

Cute little boutique hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Location was perfect walking distance for accessing buses, bars, restaurants and sightseeing in the city. Our hotel room was spacious and clean, with the surprise of a standard bathroom with shower and a separate room with a bathtub for soaking. Beds were comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. Highly recommend! We would definitely stay there on any future trips to Iceland!
